Straight answers about how nurse-led IV therapy works, and how we keep it safe.
Do I need an assessment before my first IV?
Yes. We have a Nurse Practitioner to authorize your treatment plan, or you can ask your preferred prescribing practitioner to prescribe the infusions for you. A naturopathic physician is the most likely to understand what you are asking about, because these infusions are very similar to the ones they can administer.
What if I don't know which IV I need?
That is exactly what the assessment is for. You do not need to choose in advance. Your prescribing practitioner listens to how you are feeling and your goals, then recommends what fits you best. Take a look at what we offer to see what interests you most, and you can discuss it with your prescribing practitioner.
Is Integral IV a med spa?
No. We are a nurse-led medical wellness clinic, not an aesthetics or cosmetic clinic. Our Nurse Practitioner oversees the IV infusion program. Every plan is directed by a prescribing practitioner, either our NP Jackie or a prescribing practitioner of your choice. Every infusion is delivered by a Registered Nurse. Our focus is your energy, recovery, and long-term vitality.
Is IV therapy safe, and who administers it?
Your infusions are delivered by experienced Registered Nurses under Nurse Practitioner medical direction, with gentle monitoring throughout. We confirm consent at every visit, follow provincial nursing standards and strict infection-control practices, and keep full emergency preparedness on site.
Does it hurt? Needles are not my thing.
Most people feel a brief pinch when the line is placed, then settle in comfortably. Our nurses are experienced, the recliners are cozy, and we check in with you throughout the whole infusion. Many of our most nervous clients leave pleasantly surprised.
Do I need bloodwork first?
Yes. We ask for recent bloodwork so your care stays safe: within the last 6 months if your health is stable, or within the last 3 months if your health status has changed. All iron infusions require recent bloodwork. Jackie, our Nurse Practitioner, can provide the lab requisition, or if you already have results from your regular medical practitioner, you can send them in ahead of your appointment. Some clinical infusions also call for a specific screen first, such as a G6PD test before high-dose Vitamin C. Jackie confirms exactly what your plan needs at your assessment.
What do I need for an iron infusion?
Iron is prescription-based, and you have two easy paths. Jackie, our Nurse Practitioner, can assess you and prescribe your Monoferric directly, or you can bring a prescription from your own doctor. We follow broader, wellness-informed lab guidelines to remove unnecessary barriers to care. Once your prescription is in hand, go pick up your iron from your pharmacy and bring it with you to your infusion visit. Our Registered Nurses administer and gently monitor your infusion. Administration only is $225.
Can I book my infusion right away?
Once your plan is in place, our core infusions book on short notice. Premium, special-order infusions (Athletic Restore, Radiance, Neuro, MetaBoost) need about two weeks' lead for your first visit in the series, so we can prepare your formula.
How often should I come in?
Many people feel their best with a short series, often one to three visits a week for a few weeks, then return whenever life asks a lot of them. Your plan sets the rhythm, and there is never any obligation.
Is there anyone who should not have IV therapy?
Some conditions mean certain infusions are not suitable, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart conditions, and some bleeding disorders. Your assessment screens for these so your care always stays safe and appropriate for you.
Do you accept walk-ins?
No. Every visit requires a current, Prescribing Practitioner-authorized treatment plan, so we do not accept walk-in clients without one. If you do not have a plan yet, start with a new client assessment. If you do have a plan, you still need to book ahead to ensure your spot.
